What happens to articles that "drop off" the front page?
I presume they are still there, somewhere. Is there a method of showing the articles in a category with a link on the menu, so users could look back at previous articles?

I thought that was what your "Articles" link in the menu did, but can't see how.

All articles that has the option "show on frontpage" will be there..in one of the pages. But those you set to "don't show on frontpage" will only appear ina category - or a single pages.

So the menu manager option of a link-to-category would be what you ask, and that will also contain more articles if you take care to set them as "don't show on frontpage" after a while.

But whats needed i think, is a box that lists all categories automatically and/or all articles automatically. Also some sort of frontpage limits.

An automatic option would be good.
What if when you create a category a page was created that stored all the articles in that category. Then, using menumanager, I could create a link to the category would go to that page.

A overview page so to speak?

redeye

Yes, with the same options as the forum, eg. turn off right bar. Effectively selecting a category from the menu puts users into a sort of archieve. Users could then still select other categories on the menu.

I like this idea.  Im using TP for my schools newspaper website so lets say we have articles from june 2004 we can move it to the archines side and categorize them by month so lets say i make a link to archine then i can select witch month i wans to the the archives from.

wow, this would rock for my interviews page.  Hope an archive comes out soon.

In essence you can already archive. Just create a category for each month and assign the articles to a month.
