SMF Users getting picked on!

I'm sick and tired of VB and IPB forum admins picking on SMF and other board admins because of the sterotype thinking of "Freeware is shitware".

I had a dicussion about the Zoints social network software (Admin Zone) about when the release of it for SMF Users. One person replies saying SMF wouldn't be able to handle a big and grand software package compare to your (In code that means your silly little board) forum.

Has anyone ever had this problem? I believe both SMF and Tiny Portal are great sfotware pieces but because they are free, they are frowned upon. Not fair for us folk.

I've seen that attitude before. I just shrug it off because all it is, is ignorance. They don't have the first clue at what SMF could handle.

They are just jealous ( not mention feelling a little threatened and insecure) because they can't 'buy' the kind of atmosphere you find when you chose SMF and TP.

Seriously, no matter what software ( forum, modeling, graphic arts )you deal with this type of banter has gone on for years...

As long as you believe that the products you use provide you what you want/ need it to .. that is all that matters.

Don't let them bother you, SMF and Tiny Portal can handle whatever you throw at them I am sure. GREAT FREE SOFTWARE, not to mention all the great support you get.

most people act like that because they will never admit they got taken for $160 when you got a better software for free. it is just human nature to not want to look like a fool who got ripped off. i am not saying vb is a rip off, but i have played around with a "trial" version to see if i liked it well enough to spend the dough, and in the end i chose smf.

smf and tp are still in their infancy stages so like the new kid on the block they will take some heat, but give it some time and once they get more developed the tide will change.

When I searched for new forum,to replace phpBB what I had then  ,I choose VB too (after I try almost all free boards which I can find on the net),I was so cloose to buying VB and day or two before purchase I find SMF site and find that SMF forum have better options then VB and is for free .160 $ is IMO not to much and money do not play role in my decide to take SMF forum ,he just have better option then VB .And that was before I find Bloczone and actually learn what SMF can do .
I just dont know why people use another forums  ,simple ,there are no better forum in the net .SMF is the best  :up:

I find their conclusive attitude laughable considering the most popular forum software is arguably phpBB - a free, open source product.

It really doesn't matter however, since those "in the know" use great products regardless of the "snotty" remarks of the "clueless".
