Although i have sniffed on trying out a bootmenu with multiple OS..especially as I now have aquired a 250 gb harddisk.

Another option would be to get VMWare Server version.  It's a free download.  I use it for multiple OS testing all the time.  Even used it to tryout the Migration of my old PostNuke/pnPHPbb to smf/Tinyportal conversion on a export of the live site before I did it.  Really helped.  Worked through 3 eveings at home, found all the gotcha's with doing it, and was able to upgrade the live site in about an hour and a half.

Which is why I'm now here, as a Happy SMF / Tiny Portal user

You can try out linux/Windows XP/2000 on the same machine then..?

Indeed Bloc. What I have here at work is my hard drive split in half. One half for XP and the other for Ubunto Linux. I load up Ubuntu when testing out web server and file server application problems or features. This is only ideal if you really wanna nerd out like me.

You can use virtual PC to test out just about any linux distro and windows. I think its free now. Its really easy to setup.

Oh yeah.  Absolutely.  Not just on the same machine, but actually have them running @ the same time.
I think the Microsoft software reference above won't work on 2000 Workstation (Requires server version, but I could be wrong.)  The VMware software will work with 2000 workstation though.

Proved myself wrong, you've got 2 options. 

The MS software will work on 2000 workstation.

VMWare is a pretty good chunk of money to purchase it. And for your refernce, the free beta 2007 VirtualPC also supports linux.

Why buy it.  The Server version I linked Bloc is Free.    Has been since the Day Microsoft started giving away Virtual PC.  The Enterprise ESX Version is the one that is BIG $$.   

Of course, we really don't need to 'fight' over which one he uses, since both will do the job he really needs to do, he just needs to download one and play with it.  I don't think I ever said that Virtual PC wouldn't run linux.  I just wasn't sure which MS OS's it required as it's host OS.

Either way it's all good, since we as users 'Win' if he can test with more clients.
