I kinda knew that. That is why I wondered when they both did the same thing.

uhm, you can't access images or even files in tp-downloads directory directly. Its meant to be that way. :) You see, it has a .htaccess file that says that none but "localhost" can access the files in there. "localhost" means php internally, not any link - regardless if it comes from the forum or not.

This is to prevent leeching, dl manager will in fact copy a file and send the copy to the browser for you to download.

But the "icons" folder inside "tp-downloads" are indeed allowed leeching again. Its images are used for icons in dl manager currently.

I think the DL manager is easy for some and not for others :uglystupid2:. All I want to do is add a picture to an article.

Why wouldn't I think that if I click the image icon in the editor and browse to a image file that it should insert the file[pic] into the article.

I used the DL manager to upload the same image and i still cannot get it to appear. After I filled in the info and then click send I get a white screen.

I am sure it is simple enough when you figure it out,but may I suggest a simple tutorial on using it.

I would appreciate one on "How to add an image to an article using TP DL Manager"

I will continue to fool with it for the time being. Maybe i will write one when i figure it out. For total noobs of course :2funny:

OK. I think my problem was that I was trying to add an image to an existing article that I had created a while ago. It don't work as far as I can see.

Everthing is great as long as you create a NEW article. Very nice.

I don't know if this is the case, but it seems to be.

I just explained that you can't link to pictures inside the tp-downloads folder - unless you remove the .htaccess file in there....

If you do then people can download directly the pictures/files from that folder, without going through dl manager at all.

Hello,

I've got the same error when i am trying to insert an image in a article.
So i go to amin -> articles -> add , then i push the image button, next
i push the browse button. That is when i get an Internal Server Error , a 404 Not Found error.
I have read everything above here but i still don't understand what do to.
Can someone tell me exactly how i can solve this problem?

Im working with TP 0.86 and SMF 1.1rc2 and all the rest is working great.

Thank you

crip

This sounds like a permissions error.. chmod-files - 777 or 666

Sorry, I have this error too :(

EDIT: O no... Not just another basedir issue  :tickedoff:?!? Got this as I did a html view source of the image preview page:

<b>Warning</b>:  filesize(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/xxx/public_html/..) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/xxx/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in <b>/home/xxx/public_html/smfForum/wysiwyg/whizzypic.php</b> on line <b>60</b><br />

Huh  :'(
