Coppermine or Wordpress in a TP wrapper is it possible?

Has anyone done other installations of software from inside the TP using the blocks or articles, say in a wrapper?

What I mean is something along these lines.  Made a separate install of say Wordpress or Coppermine Gallery with it's own MySql database.  Create a menu selector to a URL and when you select the menu item the application pops up under the header of TP as in a wrapper.  I'm thinking of something like Joomla wrapper I guess.  I don't care if a second login is required, because I only want login on the forums anyway.

I was looking at the articles and blocks, and it would seem possible.  I haven''t experimented much, but I'm probably just missing it.  Actually, I'm not that dialed in on the Blocks or Articles.  I did create a block with a Flash clock in it, and it works great.  Funny part is...the code disappeared and the clock is still in the block.  So...who cares the clock is what I wanted anyway. LOL

Anyway... if someone has done it, it would be nice if you'd tell us how you did it.  It would be nice if it could be done inside the TP without made code changes.  I'm selfishly thinking of the next upgrade. LOL

Thanks

IchBin

If you search for iframe on this forum you should find all the info you need.

Ken.

As IchBinâ„¢ says it's been done, you will find lots of threads on the subject by doing a search for iframes, or Coppermine.
IMHO the best auto-resizing iframe code was posted by G6.

Examples of mine below, each program in it's own seperate db.

Looks great Ken!

You did exactly what I'm looking to do.

I've gotten to the point integrated major add-ins like Wordpress, Joomla, Coppermine all get installed standalone in with own DB.  This way when a security patch is released I can immediately apply it to my app instead of waiting for a 3rd party devs to release a patch for the bridge.

Would you think about sharing just how you did it?

Scripts and stuff, maybe a kinda 1-2-3.  IMO, the ability to do this will be alot of interest to many other SMF/TP users. Psst... I even ask directions (unmanly thing to do).  I like to solve problems quicker as I get older, even if I have to ask.

Thanks

Ken.

You can find the code that is used in mine at the link below, there are several other threads where the code is mentioned. I do almost all of mine in a TP article and then just link to the article with link bar buttons, or in some cases a menu block is used.
For example the Coppermine is linked to a 'Gallery' button on the link bar in most of the themes that are available to my members, but I also include it in a 'Links' menu block in case it is not yet on the link bar of the theme in use.

I'd like The WordPress, I have had a Journal since 08-05 -- also have matching Themes for TP and Wordpress..if I just take time and do it..

I like WordPress, but to me the FelBlog was really handy and easy to use, maybe she will start doing updates again sometime... at least we can hope so.  ;)
