Hi TP team and community, Currently my site is running TP 0.983 & SMF 1.1.15

I'm trying to find out, without setting up a dev site, if there is an upgrade path on TP and/or SMF that isn't going to cause major issues.  Unfortunately I'm not as familiar with TP & SMF as I am with say Wordpress so I need advice on the subject matter.

Specifically what order should they be upgraded?  Any special precautions to take? Will my theme break?  If things will break how far can I take the upgrades without breaking?  Etc...

Thanks in advance for any insight.

The proper order:

1. Backup your stuff!
2. Check to see if your theme and any mods you have support SMF2.
3. If you are fine with the results of #1, proceed to upgrade the forum first. This removes all mods from your files only.
4. Install custom themes and mods after.

TP will do it's best to upgrade the old version stuff in the database. There are several bugs that have been posted with fixes in the boards for the latest TP right now, so if you run into them, please search for the error here and you'll find what you need. If not, post a support topic.

You will probably need to pay attention to this topic since I haven't released an updated fix for this in the package.
