homepage question

Hey guys im real new to all this, I sat here for over a hour reading and looking for my question but have had no luck so much info gave me a headache. Im really sorry if this has been asked a million times i just need to be redirected to the right direction.

I run a world of warcraft site
now i want my homepage to be here
www.tearsandashes.com
and my forum here
www.tearsandashes.com/forum

But i cant see a option to allow me to put the index into the home directory its all on my forums one.

You cant have a "homepage" made through TP on any other location then in the forum folder as TP is built on the forum foundation and inside the forum folder.
If you want to have a splash page ( homepage) you have to make one and then link it to your forum folder, or move your forum to your root directory.

Hmmmm so i moved my site from the forums folder to the main folder now its broken do i have to edit some files for the database to work?

You might need to try running this from SMF: http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=repair_settings.php

Upload to your forum root. I suggest reading the doc's for this file.
