Created brand new directory.
Created brand new database.
Installed brand new SMF118
Installed brand new TP
No safe mode.
No mods, no UTF, nothing: Brand fresh and clean. Can not be more clean than that!
Both installs with no problem.
TP is well in the installed mods list, but... no trace of TP in the admin panel.  :uglystupid2:

What could possibly go wrong?

I checked that one already: No UTF or so: Well in English.
Additionally: Impossible to uninstall:
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

Looking at your forum it appears that TP did not install correctly, you are going to need to do a manual install.

Follow these instructions:  How do I manually install TinyPortal

superlalynx

Is this a confirmation that TinyyPortal does not install itself on a absolutely clean SMF118?

IchBin

No, its confirmation that you're host does not have a properly configured server.

Any data on how a server should configured to host TinyPortal so that I can have a word with my host?

What they need to change is the permissions, so you always will be the owner of the files and folders, even if apache handles the files during an install

As you have it now ( I assume ) is that if you do things manually, you can also change everything with the files and inside the files, but if you use the package manager, and let the apache do the install, the server itself gets to be the owner and after that, you cant change or edit anything as you are not the owner.

if you look at the files and folders through FTP, you probably see something like

yourservernameinuse/99 where the 99 ( or any other number ) would be the server and not you.

It needs to say the same on both sides of the /
