your host probably wont help because of the bandwidth you will be sucking with a video portal like youtube. i can't recall how much youtube was spending on bandwidth but it was a scary huge ammount and it was said they were losing money before the buyout by google. not sure how much of that is net rumor and how much is true but i can only imagine how much bandwidth is used to host hundreds of thousands of video clips. :o

Well with a TB of bandwidth im sure it wont be a problem.. Most people wont be sharing videos with thousands of people either.

you only think you have a tb of bandwidth. most hosts advertise huge amounts of bandwidth and storage but try and use it and they will shut you down in a heart beat even if you aren't using what they say you are suppose to get. it is similar to how airlines over sell flights. they sell seats they dont have on the odds that a certain amount of people will cancel or not show.

as for you not sharing with thousands, how can you control that? people share links with others who share with others and so on. one video posted by you could easily be passed through thousands of emails and posted on different sites all over the net. i don't know exactly how this application works, but if it is like youtube then you will be  sharing your videos with thousands of people whether you wanted to or not.

and i will add the legality nightmare you could have with this on your site. you would have to monitor tightly what gets uploaded because of the copyright infringements that would no doubt crop up. there is a lot to consider before embedding this within your site.

Well for my forum I use godaddy! that is a shared hosting plan, Ive heard alot of negative things about godaddy.I must say I have been with them for about a year and have never had a problem with them. Customer support is excellent!

I also have a virtual dedicated through them also.

well i host several business sites, a couple personal sites, and i have all my LEGAL music uploaded that i do allow friends to stream from, yeah i know that isn't legal but they just stream not download. anyways, i have been served notice before about bandwidth usage and i wasn't even close to what i was advertised as having. i researched into other companies and found this to be true from many of the top names. they over sell on purpose and have disclaimers that if you use too much bandwidth your account will/can be suspended. when you think about it, they cannot realistically provide a tb of bandwidth to thousands of people for $5 a month. thats cool that you have been able to with godaddy.

anyways, sorry to get the thread off track. i will take a look at godaddy again. i looked at them last year and they were expensive and offered very little at that time, or maybe it was 2 years ago. at any rate, i know for any large sites in the future i plan on using dedicated servers rather then the community shared bundles.
