Scratch that. It wasn't the hidee code.

Yes? The <div> tags should be within the "if" statement, so this shouldn't cause a problem.

Or are you talking about something else?

nokonium made a point somewhere today or yesterday about not editing the files in the default theme. I thought I should probably reiterate that. You should apply all the mods you want to the default theme and then make a new theme to work on, copying over the files that you need to edit. Makes life a lot easier. Ask me how I know. :)

Edited to add:
Good. It wasn't this code. :) But the point about editing the template files still stands. Maybe you're already doing it, but it doesn't hurt to have a reminder just in case someone else is reading this.

jessicac

Yep. I like that idea. I think I'll start on that now. I've been keeping a clean theme on my PC so that if I screw up, I just upload the clean template. What would you suggest about changes made to source stuff?

JPDeni

Leave changes that happen with mods. Those are fine. For your own editing, I would say edit the Source files as little as possible. Make as many changes as you can in the Theme directory. Makes modding a whole lot easier.

Also it may help to have a private forum for urself as admin where u could keep "change logs" of which mod was adeed and what code changes took place which were significant for addition to other themes. (also include list of graphics added per mod)

I always do that on my forum..and never had a problem once modding new themes within mins :D

So I did a side by side comparison and sure enough, there was a missing echo for a div. I didn't do it though. Not sure what mod did. fixed and now it works. I think I'll start doing this in the future! Thanks!

I took the lunge and upgraded to RC3 and ruh roh... this doesn't work anymore... should it?

jessicac

I've added, removed, and readded the code and switch just as I had it before but it no longer works. I basically C&P'd it straight from the 1.0.9 theme. Suggestions?

JPDeni

Sorry I didn't see this before. There is nothing in RC3 that should change anything. When you say "It doesn't work", what do you mean? Does the block show all the time? Does it never show? Something else?

Post the appropriate code from your index.template.php file and let's see if we can figure it out.

Just a thought... Did you create a new theme as I suggested earlier? If so, did you switch to that new theme after you upgraded?
