May be it was my cache , cos i closed the IE window and logged back in as an admin , changed the theme and that time it was changed.
So my bad that i could not use TP right now as i wanted it to be in home directory but as soon as i learn it i will reinstall it. There are really very easy and good features in TP ( only if it does not change the db of SMF ). Anyways

thanks to Mr Squirrel ( Akulion ) ,dreadkgt, iwyen for instant and great online and on time support. Keep up such support and see how many new members will use TP as many others TP like softwares developers do not give such kind of support on their forums. I have been using MK portal and it's been 4 days and still waiting for a reply from them .

Goodluck

akulion

i use mkportal as part of my site as well

but to be honest mkportal is now a dead project - there will be no further development on it for smf according to MEO who is the project manager and developer

I really like MKP a lot but to be honest now I am trying to slowly port everything over to TP because atleast TP will keep developing

and mkportal I fear in 1 or 2 years from now will become unusable for SMF users since there will be no future development

My recommendation:

If your forum is not too big, then take a DB  backup, install it in ur root and restore the DB from the backup and ull be in business :)

Akulion, I don' t think this is the right way. A db backup will contain the directory settings so the old settings will be restored plus the attachements, packages and themes added will be needed. A DB backup is always useful however.

ftvguy it depends on what you have on root and if you have other software bridged (i.e. Coppermine, a Chat software etc.).

1. Put the forum in maintenace mode. Take a DB backup, just in case something goes wrong.
2. Copy the SMF directory to root. If your host has a utility for it it can be done quickly otherwise you have to take a backup by FTP and restore to root.
3. Take the SMF repair settings utility from here. Copy it in your root directory and run it. It will fix or will help you fix most directories and server paths. Delete it after use.
4. Browse in your root directory and login as administrator. Check and correct, if needed, the URL directories and server paths for forum, themes, avatars and attachements and smileys.
5. Go out of maintenace mode and you are done.
6. If other software is bridged you may need more things to be done.

There are quite a few other ways, without all this mess, to make your domain name default to SMF/TP directory, I think it' s a good topic to discuss, maybe splitting the topic will be needed.

yup ur right

i totally forgot about repair.settings.php even after i moved my site 3 times...

thanks for the correction

A couple of things I would consider when installing in the root especially if I have more than SMF folders/files on my site or more than one website project on my web account:

1. SMF in a folder by itself is easier to rename or move than if all the SMF folders/files are scattered among my other non-SMF files

2. If one day, I need a co-administrator to work on my SMF site through FTP, he wouldn't have access to my other non-SMF files

So I would prefer to use a parked domain to my SMF folder. And erm.. TP will show up at http://www.myparkeddomain.com Sorry if I sounded lame :P

thats how i plan on finally getting rid of mkp once my downloads, galleries and stuff is transferred....

just replace the indrx.php of mkp with a index of my own - so cool in design that people will go mad - scream and rip their clothes off from coolness

lol

Techdomain

now that would be some serious coolness!
