mayb an idiot, but i seem to be missing some parts of this conversation and i am not finding the info i need in any other area of the forum...

specifically... the sub-package thing...  where do i get this "new subs-package.php"?  manual install?  i must be blind, cuz i'm not findin any on that either.  if this stuff on this site, please... link me to it.

almost seems it would be easier to dump the new smf revision and go back to living a peaceful life... :/

You have that file - it is referencing line 961 of that file. If you have line 961, then you must have the file.   ;D

I would love to assist you, but I had a similar problem with 1.0.6 and 1.0.7 with all sorts of permissions issues (many with Sub-Packages.php) on install - hence I went with RC2 and had no problem.

So if what G6 tells you (last post) doesn't work, you might consider trying RC2.

Okay I've just installed smf v 1.0.7, added the 1.0.7 the coding inside package-info.xml file.. and loaded tp to get this:

2: copy(/home/forumken/public_html/sm/Themes/default/languages/TPmodules.english.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied
File: /home/forumken/public_html/sm/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 961

I've read the posts here and I can't get it to work. How do I change this 755 issue and where exactly is this permission thing in the admin panel? I'd appreciate any assistance.

If I upgrade to RC2 would this fix it? Where exactly is this RC2?

TwinsX2Dad

It fixed the problem for me. I was coming off of 1.0.5 and had nothing but fits in upgrading. So I went with SMF 1.1RC2, the second release candidate of v1.1, available at the SMF site.

It is listed as a release candidate, which means it is more than beta, but not quite production ready. However, most of us here have been running it with no real problems.

Any permissions changes in the admin panel won't help you. If any might, it would require either shell access or a change via FTP.

Thanks, I found the 1.1RC2 at this weblink, I'll install this and get back to you on the progress.

Perfect - one of the fine folks here will be happy to help.

Hey I uploaded 1.1RC2 update on my ftp server under packages but it doesn't seem to show up in my "modification packages" screen in admin section.. I also tried uploading from my desktop but it says file corrupt.. help?

It seems like you dont have the right permissions set to the image folder, try to set the file to atleast 755 and see if it helps. Otherwise try the manual install i linked to.

What does this mean? I dont get this 755 thing? That manual way seems awefully long..

muttly

This is what I did for the manual install: (I’m a complete noob, so this will help others I hope!)

I uploaded the manual install â€ËÅ"files only’ file http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item100 and added all the files from each directory into the relevant directory for SM i.e. all the themes were copied and pasted into the SM themes dir.

I uploaded the file http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get101 and run it â€ËÅ"php 1139149106manual_tp_install.php’ in the main SM directory.

Note: If your having permission problems then chmod 777 all your SM (chmod 755 did not work for me).

Download the instructions for modifying your php files in SM from here http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2481.0;attach=1830

Follow the instructions in the file for editing each php file as required â€ââ,¬Å" just copy and past each section into the php file.

The third php for editing was a problem because I could not find the entries from the install instructions for that file (index.php) so I downloaded a working copy here and replaced my index template in my SM root dir; http://www.webmasterz.eclipse.co.uk/images/index.template.zip

Restart SM in your default theme.
