Sorry, I could have sworn you were adding that article to the front page, that's why I suggested the Center Panel Block. Obviously that won't work for a article page.

Can you go to SMF admin and turn off the, "Minimize CSS and JavaScript files" so we can take a look at the css. Also if you have that option on you might not see any manual changes you make to the css.

Admin > Configuration >>  Minimize CSS and JavaScript files

You can turn it back on when finished.

Got it. I unchecked the box. If it's easier to live chat to mess with this, use the Chat link in the forum and join the #Orlando chat room.

*edit: On second thought, maybe we should keep it here so others can benefit from the conversation.

I played around with the css and although it can be slightly improved, until that empty div is gone you can't fix it completely, or at least I can't with my limited knowledge.

I would personally like to see that empty space disappear when not using the title the same way as the blocks behave.

display: none;
On the div element should hide it and remove any whitespace.

If not unset the element causing the spacing.

Just beat me to it..

in tp-style.css find

.tp_nodivheader {
    padding: 12px 16px;
}

and update to

.tp_nodivheader {
    padding: 12px 16px;
    display: none;
}

Hmm. I tried it but it had no effect. I have the "Minimize CSS and JavaScript files" unchecked, and cleared my cache.

Here's what's in my tp-style.css:

.tp_nodivheader {
    padding: 12px 16px;
    display: none;
}

There is still a gap between the blocks and the article:
