It seems that it only lets you do it once

bloc

Yes..and this only works if you install windows updates AFAICR. I don't :) but it still get bigger. I tried several of these solutions but they do very little. What does work is to pre-install every program you need, and never install anything again heh. But that seldom works in practice.

This I found interesting  ::)
Quotea report of 6 GB "size" for c:\windows\winsxs does not mean that winsxs is taking anywhere near 6 GB on disk. Most of that 6 GB is shared with the rest of windows via hard-links (meaning there is really only 1 file, but it appears to be in 2 places. For example, calc.exe can be found hard-linked to both c:\windows\system32\calc.exe, and c:\windows\winsxs\<some-directory>\calc.exe.) Out of that 6 GB, maybe 2 GB is actually taking space in winsxs. That ~2 GB space is comprised of: backups of critical files, disabled features, important meta-data, and backups of superseded files. Of that ~2GB, the "windows update cleanup" tool targets the "backups of superseded files" only. A fully up-to-date and cleaned (using the update cleanup functionality) 32 bit Windows 7 OS would probably be reported by explorer as somewhere in the 5 GB range.

So in reality the winsxs folder is nothing to worry about  ???

The usual cloak and dagger that they've been doing for years for unknown reasons. :P

bloc

Yes..but the problem is that when you install something or need more space, its the "fake" number thats used. Meaning your drive WILL report as full, even if the actual folder is less. It will impact on how new files are written to the disc too...

The reason its not been a huge deal before is that most had regular drives of 500-1000mb, but when people got SSD it suddenly became normal with smaller ones again(for c drive). And you *should* put all program files on SSD too, to maximise the speed benefit. Which means you are soon out of space...

Yes, felt a spark here to, except for Brad that probably got a bit to close to bang his head to the wall. Im glad he got to a point where he said it was enough, and even glader that Bloc got his spark back to keep it going :)
Future looks and feels greate right now regarding TP.

Life for me is going good to. Working on the roads most of the days in a week though, but I like it. Driving a truck about 5000km/week is like having a home on the road hahaha. I have met so many new friends at truckers stops now, both wommen and guys from all over Europe. Even if i only drive Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden and Norway ) theres a lot of people here from Balcan and south europe. Every time i have a days breake (usually try to stop at the same places ) i meet someone i know now after 3 years behind the wheel.
Now during the summer holliday i have had both Dennis and Zacke with me. They both love to be in the cabin wathing TV, play Playstation or surf on the Ipad :) Have about everything here. Internet, TV, Fridge, beds and the best view that change every mile you go.
When im alone driving i often check in here on TP and read the posts, still working on my on photo site, but i take like 50 new images everyday of things i see so it kind of halts on just checking the images and were slow on actually getting them up on my site  :uglystupid2:
Rignt now i have 2 weeks vacation, and offcourse i made the glourious thing of pointing to extreamly bad thunder and lightning weather  :2funny:
Kids start school again next week so i wanted to be there for their start. Dennis going to 0th graade and Zack is going for 3rd. They are growing up fast.
Kevin and Linnea are noth working abroad now. Kevin in Barcelone in some telecom sales co, and Linnea are located in Central South America and working for SIDA that is some helpcare organisation. She lives with a local family there and will be gone for 10 more month before she comes home.

So life is about as good as it can be. Have missed TP and the team, sat the night before this one and read through the DOCS site, there were a lot of names on old team members that i ( sorry big time ) forgot all about  :-X Bit as i read the names, it came back like it was yesterday. Also a few of them are not with us anymore  :-[
I hope TP will come to life again, could be fun to have something to do during my breakes :D

Lesmond

Carina, It would be great to see you back too, and then we can change your badge back to a team badge O0

@Bloc,

Just wanted to mention here that, I like very much the themes you have done in the past and now, but the ones you had with the Blog, Gallery, Text Fields for a right and or bottom panel, were the Boss!

Things like this are what really gets to me in a meaningful way!
And they can work well with or without the use of a portal, But I love the use of TP with them as well! :)

These things make for a versatility, no one can match along with the TinyPortal and SMF... Just saying :)

regards,
Maxx
But Mama, That's Where all the fun is!

Well, if Bloc gets "Back in the saddle" then he'll work on TP and his themes when he has time and it will be like old times when he was the only staff member. LOL

G6Cad

I dont think Bloc will be alone with support, back then when he started is like it is to day. I think he will have people in line for a support badge :)
