Just was reading some stuff on Twitter -- regarding themes of all kinds Ipb, vB, smf, phpbb & others basicallly all agreed to this.....

Actually a good idea, drop support or at least show a warning that it doesn't show as the others do. Its about time.

lol, yeah, there are so many good alternatives now: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera..and of course IE8 itself.

On this site we now have the traffic divided like this:

1.Firefox                    59.03%    
2.Internet Explorer    28.84%    
3.Chrome              4.73%    
4.Opera                 4.18%    

Of the IE visits, it looks like this:

1. IE7.0     57.32%    
2. IE6.0     24.77%    
3. IE8.0     17.11%

So its fading in favor of IE8 thankfully - and IE7 of course.

Personally, I would be happy if everyone dropped support of IE entirely for awhile.

Maybe it would force someone at Microsoft to figure out that it's about time that they stopped trying to write their own rules for how they think a browser should work and start conforming to the CSS rules that every other browser attempts to conform to.  I know, I know, it'll never happen, but we can always hope for the best.

Along these lines, I have read a few articles online recently where people are complaining that this practice has continued into IE8 but not as bad as it was in IE6 and IE7.

My manager swears by IE.. a wannabe network engineer. He .. check this.. actually thought that Microsoft invented the internet, I'm like.. er.. nooooooo, it was some dude at CERN, you know, that place just about to create an Earth swallowing black hole in Switzerland. So, since M$ invented the net.. surely they make the rules.. huh?

I dropped support for IE6 in November last year. Somewhat annoying when the company I work for still uses IE6.. Arrrgggghh, it aint even got tabs, I have like 10 browsers open every day.

IE wouldn't be so bad, if Micro$oft could adhere to the standards that are set, and THEN also have additional functionality that javascript could take advantage of.

I held onto IE for the longest, but once I started trying to develop code with it's quirks and shortcomings, it created more hassle than what I wanted to put up with.
