Ugh, users are still reporting that it hangs on loading the page...

This leads me to believe that it's something with MySQL or PHP...

:buck2:

SmokyBlue

not sure why.. im getting:

Page created in 0.137 seconds with 24 queries.

darkspreader

Well it happens completely randomly. Before I thought it was just when posting, but now it's on any link.

SmokyBlue

Maybe I should update MySQL and PHP then see? (No clue how to do those two things the right way :P)

SmokyBlue

just backup everything before you do  ;)

Well, I successfully updated PHP and MySQL, and it's still hanging.

And now that I'm thinking about it, I do have this program called CFosSpeed that does traffic shaping to optimize my connection... maybe it's having an effect on the packets getting sent through or something. I'll uninstall it and see how things go.

How many users you have on the forum at a time? Have you looked at the load on your server? What is happening when the slow times come? Is the CPU over worked? Is memory an issue? Maybe your connection is saturated with too much traffic?

darkspreader

According to the SMF stats, there are on average 10 users online a day. I know for a fact that my server can handle my web server, ftp server, and an occasional game server. I've got an e2160 (1.6ghz) with 2gb of ram. I'm also about to swap the ram with some lower latency ones. There's always over 1.2gb of free memory even with a game server running lol. I've also got a 2mbit upload rate.

I'm starting to strongly believe that it's this CfosSpeed program that's been the culprit. Google it, it's a really nice program for boosting your connection, but apparently it's not good for use on servers  :uglystupid2:

I just found this in my PhpMyAdmin status page:

Note the number of aborted connections... Maybe it could be something in MySQL that's causing these problems?

Should I post my my.ini file here to see if there's any problems? Or do you think it's beyond that?
