Ken.

JP did you try doing the update through your admin panel? You should see a notice and a link for the update in your admin panel.

Both 1.1.5 and 1.1.6 installed smoothly using the admin-link. TP still going strong. Swapping from Joomla! to TP made my life a lot easier.  :uglystupid2:

I know it would be at SMF.

QuoteI found something about it at SMF and turns out the compression was a bit funny. I decompressed it and re-compressed as a zip and it ran the pre-installation check ok. I still need to do a manual edit to Security.php though as that one failed the test.

Actually just to be sure I'm going to manually check all the files. Easier that way in the long run.

I was wondering where -- specifically -- he got the file to decompress and then recompress. The only files I could find where those that replaced all the Source and Theme files, which is something I don't want at all.

Yep. It looks like I have some mod or something that's interfering. I was able to upgrade a completely pristine SMF installation that I only created on Saturday. (Not even TP on that one yet.) It did just occur to me that I might be able to find the upgrade file in the new forum directory, so I'll take a look there.

He could have dragged the Admin patch link for it to Desktop & unzip / rezip there if it's possible?

Well, that's what I ended up doing. I didn't know if anything was downloaded at all from the SMF site (I'm not a fan of everything being so automatic that you can't tell what's going on) but I was able to get it from my other installation and apply it manually. You'd think that they would have a file easily available from the site, like we have here for TP. Or, at least, I would think that. :)

If I remember right, the small update is the package you can put in the package manager. Only if your using the previous version. Skipping a version does not apply.

I usually click the "apply Patch" in my package manager, and then if i get errors, i download the patch only from my "packages" folder and add the strings manually according to the .MOD file.

Did it to day to familjegodis.se as i have a lot of mods installed there. So the patch gets added in the package folder

Well, I don't know what the problem was, but the patch file wasn't there on the sites where I had problems. The only place I could get it from was the Packages folder on my one completely unmodified forum on which the patch worked.

I had planned to remove that forum because it's not being used at all, but I guess I'll keep it around so that I can be sure to have access to any future update patches.

ETA: I found the file. It's attached to a post on the forum.

Fresh instalation on new site went good, but i have problems with update of my old site..

When I try to download update with package manager I recive this massage

An Error Has Occurred!

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF. !

I have downloaded small pack/ upgrade, uploaded it in packeges folder on my server, but I still can't see it in packege manager...

Any ide what it can be?
