Bloc, my hero!! ;D ;D

I installed SMF1.1 RC2 4 weeks past and have been waiting for the updated TP. Today in less than 30 minutes I installed TP and 7 templates. It all worked straight off, no problems at all.

And what is even sweeter is how obvious and simple all the admin stuff is.

If only all software was this good...

I know Ray had the double upshirnk like that, it's fixed now I think.

Alrighty... all the files have been CHMOD'd to 755 instead of 777.  I'm still getting the same error when trying to run the install from the Package Manager.

You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

Any suggestions?

!!Error in Package Installation

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

OK Just tried again installing.Amber but still not working. TP is installed as its showing up in the admin section, but no blacks are showing at all apart from the original left side amber block.

As metioned before it works fine with the default theme.

I've had this before and it was a long job to find. I found that some images in the default/images directories also need to be 777. Go through them and make sure all buttons, etc, are set to 777.

Also make sure that the forum directory is at 777, and the root folder for the site if you can.
