RSS Feed Poster.. if you dont use it.. get rid of it.
I personally use Reason For editing and custom profile fields.. But I have half the mods I used to have.

My Related Topics had a different problem.. I use the Azure theme, when logged in, it was fine.. From a guest point of view, the whole forum layout went a bit wonkey.

RSS Feed Poster trashed my forum when I tried to uninstall. Whew... luckily I always backup my domain before working on it. (learned that one the hard way)

any suggestions on uninstalling without destroying the rest of the forum?

I'm great at installing mods.. no.. really I am 
Uninstalling with errors? Now thats something else entirely. Never continue if there are errors, either on install or uninstall.

what do you suggest? clean install?

More or less you just need to replace the files the mod changed so you have fresh files again.
If the files have been changed by TP, you need to add the TP code in to these files manually after the replacement

I think I'm just going to install clean.
and reduce mods to a minimum.
