I am not much good with code, (see sig ;) ) but you have to manually add the code to your files

Sc0rian

you got to be kidding...

thats going to take ages.. i cant believe i cant just download pre-modded files.. god sakes...

i need a reason really why it aint modding them in the first place???

Zetan

You would not be the first to have to manually install. I personally have never had to.
Do other mods install correctly?

Sc0rian

Installations actions for "Minimum Characters/Words Per Post":
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

installing this package will perform the following actions:
   Type    Action    Description
1.    Execute Modification    -    Modification parse error

but seem to still install??

wtf is going on.. did the hack bugger up my sql?  :'( :'(

Zetan

So other mods are not installing correctly?
If thats the case, you need to find out why that is first. TinyPortal is just another mod. If you are having probems with other mods.. TP will not install any more than the others.

Zetan

Okay... I'm having a quick look at this as Sc0rian PMed me. As I explained to Sc0rian, I've had a long day at work and I'm tired.
TP is installed.. but is not functioning with the default theme. It will not uninstall either.

You also say your site has been hacked? I would be asking for support myself it that were me. I'm certainly no expert around MySQL.
You're site appears to be functioning. And I'm wondering if you have gone ahead with a mod install even though there may have been errors and you went ahead and continued past the warnings.. not sure.

Sc0rian, in your host files you will find:
/public_html/Packages/backups/

In there are previous states that your forum was in before you installed any mods. You can download a previous state, unzip and re-upload the unziped files to there correct places, you can find more information on how to do this at SMF.
SMF has been designed to create backups every time you install a mod.

Zetan

Before doing anything drastic... goto:
Admin > Packages > Options > (Make All Files Writeable) > (At the bottom, click the button "Change File Permissions"). Enter FTP details.
Thats the best I have right now. I have to go to bed.

Good, luck and I hope you manage to fix it.. I would also seek advice at SMF.

[Edit] Having just logged out from your site.. you seem to have some functioning blocks or Articles on the Home Page, No forum button..
Have you had TP working previously?

Sc0rian

Hey Zetan,

thanks so much for that, i have got all the forum fully back and running... thanks so much for your help...

as i had my website hacked, is there a support member that would take a look at my .sql code?

thanks!!

Zetan

You're welcome.. I'm pleased you fixed it.  :)
What did you do? Use the backups or change permissions?
I had a look at you're site this morning before I left for work... looking good  8)

MySQL is not my area to be honest. I need to dig into databases a bit.

The times this have been issues that i have helpt on fixing, it have been broken files.

What you can try is to change FTP software, FileZilla and set it to upload files on Auto. (or if you set what you have now to ASCII and see if you get it to work.

Another thing you can check is the owner of the files you change. Do they really get changed when you add code manually to them ?

The reason you dont get an uninstall link in the package manager is that TP is not installed. Or atleast the manager doesent see it as installed.

First check the files (diffrent FTP and check the upload settings so you have it on eather auto or ASCII )

Second check the owner of the files, the permission can sometimes be set as 777 but if the owner is the server and not you, you have no rights to the files to change them.

The rest you seem to know pretty good as far as i could read from your posts :)
