When I first installed, I too got the error and installed it anyways. It wasn't until much later, that I found out that it didn't write all the information over correctly. It really messed up my forum, and I ended up haveing to completely reinstalling the forum. If you get an error, it's not smart to continue. Causes trouble down the road.

When you have an error on a file that needs to be modified its because it can't find the code that needs to be modified. More than likely because you have installed a mod that changed the code its looking for. You'll need to uninstall any other mods you have. If that doesn't fix it, upload a fresh index.template file.

Just out of curiousity I have a quick question.

First of all, I haven't installed TP 0.98 yet, though I have downloaded it.

Secondly, after installing the package for SMF 1.1.1 and the patch to 1.1.2 and then TP 0.97, I deleted the Babylon theme after installation because I knew I wasn't going to use it.  After thinking about it, this was probably a stupid thing to do, but of course doing so hasn't caused me any problems because I haven't installed anything since then except a couple of other minor SMF Mods.  After I deleted it, I went in via FTP and deleted it as well.

I suspect that when I try to do the update for TP 0.98, I will get errors that it can't find the Babylon Theme.  Should I find a copy of Babylon and install it again so that I won't get these expected errors when I install the latest TP or does it matter?

If that is the only error you get you should be able to continue with the installation and TP should still work.

Yeah it just won't edit for the babylon theme since you don't have it.

Yeah but he won't be able to use the default theme...cause it won't have side bars or a link to the forum.

No, I didn't delete the default theme, only the Babylon Theme. ;)
