HOW TO MANUALLY INSTALL TP V.097 To SMF 1.1.1

Posted over one and other.

You have completed the first and third step for the manual install of TP.
But you have missed the manual edits of the code you need to copy and paste in to a few SMF files.

If you want, you can use the premade manuall install files from the install board sticky post.
Download the zip, extract and upload and overwrite the old ones and refresh and TP will show up.
One downside with this is if you have other mods installed, they will be lost if they uses the same files (most mods do use the same)

If you want to manually copy and paste the code needed, you find it in the DOC secion of the forum or in the manuall install package HTML file.

I'm sorta totally confused here.lol.....not your fault, just my brain trying to do stuff I begin to suspect it wasn't designed for...."you can't teach an old dog to do new tricks"

Initially, I tried the non-manual install , which gave a whole mess of error messages concerning MYsql. So I deleted the whole TP folder, and tried the manual install. The whole " manual edits of the code", is something I am NOT confident with at all. I am still too much of a newbie to go messing about on the code level.
Maybe I should try the non-manual install again?

Do you have other mods installed beside (tp) now ?

And when you went for the package install, did you do it with the forum set to use the Default SMF core theme ?

I don't have any mods installed..only installed SMF yesterday.
I  wasn't using the default theme( musta missed that instruction )
Will try again, using default theme.

Nope, didn't work...same whole page of Mysql errors. e.g.:

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Access denied for user '*******'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/********/public_html/TP_0971/tp_install.php on line 17

Seems like you trying to install it in the wrong dir or similar, cause it should fetch the info from SMF installation.

If you want me to look and install it for you, please send a PM with Admin account for your site and ftp account

Hallo, when I tryto aplply mode, there is an error message to change the chmod. What file/folder i have to chage to 777? Please adv.

where should I upload the zip..is it in the forum folder or package folder...tq

You DOWNLOAD the zip file.

EXTRACT it on your LOCAL machine (the very PC you are using) and THEN send the files up as they are placed in the structure of the files you see when you have extracted the zipfile
