as an aussie we hold him dear to us, in our best spirit we tend to poke fun at those we admire!!  There are many jokes and comments doing the rounds back here!  We tend to crack more jokes at those we admire (it's an Aussie thing) in this case there are hundreds of messages around, perhaps because  we admired him so much!!!! he was all we wanted to be!!!!!

RIP Steve, we'll miss your larrikan ways!

What an awesome guy.  He revolutionized the way wildlife documentaries are made and spurned quite a few copy cat type shows.  If it wasn't for Steve, we would still be watching shows with the monotone narrator and 30 different cameras such as the Mutual of Omaha shows.

His contagious enthusiasm will be sorely missed.

What a class act he was.
