Yes it is possible

I have the mod that will do this

1) You can use seperate databases for phpbb and EasySiteEetwork information but use a single user database or use the same database since phpbb uses table prefixes
2) NO NEED to shut off password encryption in phpbb for more security
3) Replace your EasySiteNetwork "newuser" and "create user" files with the phpbb signup process
4) Replace your EasySiteNetwork login screens with phpbb login screens with optional "stay logged in" feature.
5) Place login screens anyplace on your site
6) Replace "forgot me" password reminder with a more secure phpbb forgot me system
7) Add the ability to keep your users logged in using the phpbb session management even when the browser is closed or computer restarted
8 Print the phpbb username anyplace in your site
9) Make your site a more community based site that encourages forum discussion
10) Will work with any existing templates
10) Redirect your EasySiteEetwork logins to the proper pages instead of the phpbb main system

I built the modification for the recipe site (because thats the type of site we're building) but since all the easysitenetwork scripts are similar it can work for most, I think, the tips script for sure by implementing the same modifications to the similar processes.

If anyone is interested I have it available along with a script to add to phpbb for a small fee for the time it took to write them.
