I suggest a Progress bar for Uploads

I realize there is a progress bar that displays in the lower bar of the browser.  That progress bar fills up very quickly and users have complained they think their system may have locked up.  They Esc out and lose large file downloads.

It would be great to have a nice looking graphic progress bar on the upload screen visible while the file is loading, making it very clear the file is still uploading.

This have been asked before, but i think Bloc denied the request for the releases to come

What about just having 5 asterisks going back and forth until the upload is done?

It could be placed next to the upload Browse Box.

When users upload files that are about 5 to 8 MB the little progress bar on the browser fills up fast, and if you're not looking at a modem with lights you don't know when the thing is through except when you get the finish screen.

I tell them to wait on the finish screen, but even on DSL connections a large file takes much longer to upload than people have patience.

Well, the reason it was denied right now is that most downloads ar just to small in sizes, There fore a progress bar would not even have the time to be visible and just have more queries to the DB.

I understand completely...

Problem is I need to have something that causes my users that are uploading stay with the program until it's done.

Maybe a couple of blinking gif lights next to the upload/browse box or something.  Red & Green tiny led type lights blinking.

When the user quits I sometimes get part of the file, maybe all of it.  Funny thing, I get a bunch of numbers in front of the file name they uploaded.

I think making sure they stay with the upload once it's started maybe more important than perceived.

Thanks again for you response

A visual or textual item that show that something is uploading can be made..but reading the actual upload process is difficult. Its PHP that does the uploading and it doesn't share its progress.

I know PHP developers are looking into adding this though.
