Articles showing first 4lines and then link for read more?

I cant find anything that does this so I apologise first if it already exists.

But its something i would like but have no idea where to start.

a link to the offending article would help. Maybe you have it set to use the intro?

I am very new to this so bear with me...


this is what I am trying to do:

I have created 5 news bits and also a content menu(in left block). If I click on the main menu option I get all the news on my front page.

what I would like is all the news but only the first 4 lines and then a "read more" link for each news article to open the full doc.

if this dont make sence i'll try and get my site hosted externally so I can show you what I am trying to do..at the moment its on an internal network.

Admin/tinyportal/settings/frontpage

Change the value for how much text you ewant to show before the article link to read more

Otherwise, just go to edit the article you made and edit the intro options.
