No correct amount of users online

By the statistics you can see how many users visit your site. it's the colum: total.
In SMF he gives a total of (for today) 17.
In the statistics of TP he gives 2

This is not correct. How to fix this

Go in to your admin panel and then forum maintenance, there you do a forum recount of posts and topics and you should be good again
