Hey,

Is it possible to move Tiny Portal's boxes so that instead of being inside the body of the forum (the parts where forums are listed, posts, etc) it is just outside of it? To the left or right of the forum body, therefore not altering and pushing the width of the pages to make room for itself?

IchBin

Not sure I understand what you are saying. Do you have any examples you can point to?

Howltz

Sure thing, sorry about that.

Red box = where is is now
Blue box = where I'd like it to be
Green box = the white area created by the left panel, compressing against the body of the forum

It might not be possible, unless there was a way to somehow move where the code position is or something;;

Looking at your example image, I'm assuming  those are borders down the right and left sides of your page, because your theme is not wide enough, in other words fixed width?

Try increasing the width of your theme to 95% instead of, for example 800px

Or am I barking up the wrong tree.  :)

IchBin

I'm betting this could be done with the theme and some CSS changes. Changing the width to expand to percentage like lurkalot pointed out will help to push the columns out. If you need to change the background to make it appear outside the white area, that can be done likely in the tp-style.css file.

ZarPrime

Yeah, probably, but I'm guessing that, in this case, Lurkalot is probably right.  I think he's barking up the right tree on this one. :P

Most themes these days, though not all of them, have a setting right in current theme configuration that will control this (www.YourSite.com/index.php?action=admin;area=theme;sa=settings).  For instance, on this site, with the theme we are using, you can easily set the forum width as shown in this image ...

If that setting is not available in the current theme settings, it can easily be changed by adjusting the CSS, as Ichbin mentions.

Howltz,  FWIW, this is the main reason why, when requesting support, that we ask you to post a little more information for us as specified in our Posting Guidelines.  If we had the information requested in those guidelines, it's always much easier for us to give you a quick answer ...
