Picking a forum member from a TP php block

I am generating a html form via a php script included from a php TP block.  It's for a specialised keyword search.

I would like to have this form offer one of those boxes where you start to type the member's name and it finds matching members as you type, so you can pick one already correctly spelled for you.   This already exists as part of SMF in various places.  Can you suggest a way I can access this via the script I am writing?
