Updating table if necessary - Upgrade TinyPortal v1.0 RC3

I installed the latest version of TP and the following message appeared to me, "Updating table if necessary" is this normal? or should I take?

    tp_data already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_settings already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_blocks already exists. Updating table if necessary.

    tp_dlmanager already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_modules already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_dldata already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_shoutbox already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_rates already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_ratestats already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    tp_events already exists. Updating table if necessary.
    Updated internal version number to 1105
    Updated access field of blocks

TinyPortal's table structure is now installed/updated.

Yes, it only "updates table if necessary" if you are upgrading from certain versions. Some database things changed in the older versions, so a table update is issued only when is necessary.

How do I know what is needed?

You don't need to know, the upgrade will do what is necessary.
