TP admin panels timing out (those that refer tinyportal.net)

There was a feature in TinyPortal 1.0 beta 3 which queried the TinyPortal site to look for updates for News and Modules but this feature was removed in beta 4 and is not in the latest version either, unless you have selected the TinyPortal Package Server (which no longer exists at this time).  The Package Server could have been added by you in your SMF Package Manager under the action "?action=packageget".  If you had added the TintPortal Package Server there, simply remove it. 

Alternatively, just upgrade to the latest version of TinyPortal.  This would be the best way to fix it.
