I don't know for certain, but i would guess it is part of the theme.

Yes, this is a feature of the theme currently in use here.  There are many nice features of this theme but this particular feature is " Option to show avatars of posters on both boardindex and messageindex.".  The other icon circled is a feature of every SMF theme, or it should be.

I think he's talking about the Mod that WillyP mentioned.  That Mod hasn't been updated since SMF 1.1.10.  I used that on one of my sites before but unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for SMF 2.

The theme is for SMF 2.0 RC3, the Mod isn't.

Since the op didn't bother to mention what version he was using, I didn't bother to look at what version the mod was compatible with.    Please read and follow the Posting Guidelines

If there is another mod that is compatible with a more recent version of SMF, I didn't see it.
