Hello everyone (& bloc!) after much searching on this site I have come close but no cigar with a solution to my problem. Please feel free to delete / modify / insult freely if this has been answered elsewhere. I was really hoping my first post would have been under less noob-like circumstances!

Right. Had been running an older version of SMF and tiny portal from a good few years ago on a site I put together, and everything worked. However Now having the time to dedicate I've migrated everything (mostly) TinyPortal v1.0 Beta 5  & SMF 2.0 RC3.

However now my front panel blocks are no longer viewable as a guest user.  I've checked all the settings and a if I move content from the left or right blocks with guest permissions to the front panel blocks it disappears if you log out and view the home.

Probably embarrassingly simple. I am at your mercy!  :knuppel2:

I have checked block access, settings, frontpage and permissions and everything is set to allow everyone it. Can't help but feel that the log in appearing in the centre of the page is just rubbing things in!

Just to clarify, guest allowed content appears successfully in the left or right blocks and there doesn't appear to be a setting left I could not have added after the upgrade left!

Many thanks, looking to stick around too.

Have you checked the panel settings ?, the panels needs to be set as active before any block can be shown inside them :)

It can also relate to this perhaps. If so, try that file and see if it fixes the problem for you

Hi thanks for the reply. The panels are viewable to all that log on:

But I notice this on the panel page: There is no image for the front panel compared  to the others and no button to say "active" even though the panel does display as the selected layout (1 /234) - you can see the start of articles 234 in the pic above at the bottom)

Here is a shot of it logged out. Since my first post above I notice that the menu on the left (only a test so excuse formatting) displays to guests - but when the categories are clicked (which load in the centre) they also now ask you to log on to view.

As for the link, I did read it and wonder - but felt as the blocks do display it must just be a permissions issue somewhere - it seems same issue at first, but then they just didn't work at all for them. However based on images above you think it is the same I will go check it out.  :)

Same with my install.  No image and no on off buttons.   My front panel does show when logged out though. ;)

Actually a user I sent a link to the new site said actually the guest access went about the time of the 1.1.1.1 update, could TP be getting over-ruled by SMF? But somehow, ONLY guest users? At a bit of a loss, but glad I'm not going crazy with the panels!

The reason theres no "off" button(and image) for frontpanel, si that you turn off that panel inside the frontpage settings - where you can combine with frontpage options: showing the panel before or after the frontpage content.

As such the blocks for frontpanel should show for guests if the permissions are set, so do check them and see if guests are turned off.

Note. if you hit the domain you will currently see the old version (1.1.1.1 not RC3) which is doing the same thing if you are not a guest.

Here are grabs from permissions, access and settings. Couldn't see anything on the permissions page relating to guest access but it is included regardless!

Bottom image shows everything is ticked for the front blocks.  :buck2:

Thanks for the replies so far. Would love to get this sorted.

I actually got this sorted in the end, a clean install by a colleague and I and reapplied all the settings. Many thanks for your suggestions. Perhaps you can help with my latest request / issue?
