I fully understand where you're coming from on this.  One of my sites has been using one of Bloc's older themes for a very long time as well.  Since I am in the planning process for upgrading it to SMF 2.0 RC3 and TP beta 5-1, I asked Bloc about the theme and, lo and behold, he told me that this particular theme is on his list for update.  needless to say, I was thrilled. :D
