Hello again :)

I recently installed TP on another forum and have it almost where I would like it however a couple of question....

I have setup an upper block to represent the first page visitors should upon arriving at the site, this works well and can be seen by people not logged in to the site, additional to that I've setup one Category called MENU with four articles, the forth being the same info as the upper block. (The reason for the upper block being used was a suggestion when using a different version of TP as it had a bug) Anyway the reason for my question is a can't seem to work out how the MENU block can be seen and used by visitors (not logged in to the site).

On another forum of mine this all works but I would say I'm not seeing a tick or selection somewhere to allow this and ask if anyone can help please.

The forums are set so only financial members can view them but all the front page stuff should be viewable to non members, please feel free to take a look here:    www.westcoastcommodores.com/smf

SMF V1.1.10
TP V1.0 Beta 4

Once everything is sweet to run I've advised the guys we should then move it to our main domain...

Please note this is a live site as well....

You can't set the block permissions to show for guest?

Gav-Aus

Hi IchBin,

The guest option has been ticked, justing hoping it's the right area (see attachement).

Just to add another question (sry) when a users log's out of the forums or event at the front page can the system be set to default back to the front page (index)? and is there a way to remove the login box at the bottom of the front page? The theme in use allows for a login at the header.

IchBin

Guests cannot view the articles because you have turned off guest access to the forum. You cannot have guest access turned off in the forum if you want them to be able to view anything but the blocks. If you don't want guests to view the boards, then simply change the permission on each board to not allow guests to view them. Then turn the option for guest access on for your board.

When I asked you about the permission for your block, you responded with the permissions of your category. The menu block doesn't have anything to do with the category. Each block has its own set of permissions.

[SOLVED]

So simle when you know :) Thanks for that this has corrected it for me and all is now working.

No rush as the site can go on as it stands but did you have any thought with the following?

Just to add another question (sry) when a users log's out of the forums or event at the front page can the system be set to default back to the front page (index)?

With the above fix no need to look at the second part of my question :)

Gavin,

That's the standard way it's done for SMF.  However, this has been requested as a feature fix for TP for a future version but there is no status on it yet.  Read more about it here ...

If you want to do this yourself, you can have a look at Bloc's post shown below and do the fix yourself.  Just make the change to the Sources/Subs.php described at the bottom of this message ...

Thanks, I'll give it a go and see how it comes together.

Sorry last one :) [I think]

When I make the board smaller (in a window) some of the avatars start to have a scroll bar along the bottom, is there a way to make this a fixed size?

For any extra issues you have, you should start a new topic. Thank you. The question you're asking is totally dependent upon the theme you're using.
