Modding help please?

I couldn't figure out which board to post this in so if i am wrong please move it.

I am trying to make something I did for smf/tp in to a mod package but I can get no help @ SMF.  I have attached what I have so far and if anyone could help...please.

What i am trying to do is make sure this will install through the package installer and make the edits to the database that are needed.  I have the edits in the mod file correct i think, now i just need to know how to make the additions to the database.

here is what the database needs:
Skype as type tinytext
Ventrilo as type varchar with a size of 65.

Well I don't know how to add things to a database, but I think you need to put it in a php file. And then have your package run that file to update the database as you need.  Take a look at blocks tp_install.php file and you'll see what needs to be done. Understanding it is another thing....

Tried that already...don't quite understand how that worked...the whole setting up a package thing is just confusing even having a template to go by!
