I want to prevent guests from accesing the forum, so when they try to enter a board they'll be redirected to the login or register page, but i still want them to see the news in the Portal.

I want to put a link in the news to a especific topic in the forum, so when guests click the link they'll be redirected to the login or register page, that is why i want them to be able to see the news.

I have this two options enabled

But this is what i see

In the last picture i want to display the news with the links to the forum, instead of the login option

You have to "allow guests to browse the forum", but you change the Board "Permissions" to not allow guests to browse the board(s).

When i allow guests to browse the forum and i unckeck that box in the news board:

This is what happens in the Portal

The news cannot be seen by a guest, and when i enter to see the forum, the news board does not appear.

What i want to do is allow the guests to see the news in the portal, and all of the boards in the forum(the structure of the forum, Category-board), but when they try to access one by making clic in the boards name, i want them to be redirected to the login page.

I hope i made myself clear, im trying to explain as much as i cant to help you guys help me xD

I think there's a mod at SMF to "Hide Boards", but display the board header.. is this what you want to do?

As for TP allowing guests to view the news on the home page, but not the news board, this may be a bug.. but I'll need another team member to confirm this.

I beleive we had some discussions about this within the last month or so.

Do a search and also review the bugs database and you will find more info.  I believe ZarPrime was working with someone with this same problem.

Edit:   Look here and see if this is what your problem is:

yeah, thats what happens.

Maybe i'll just allow guests to see only the news board, anything else will be invisible to those that are not registered

Why?

Do you have secret things? To be honest, hiding content away does not attract members, in fact, it does the opposite.

Unless you have things like my now defunct DJ board, which was purely a FAQs, DOCs and a board with sensitive passwords.. there is little point, secret boards do not attract members.

what i want is to force guests to register, if they see the news nad they want to access the content inside the forum, then they have to register, that is what i wanto to do

Trust me, they wont. they'll just go elsewhere unless you have something unique to offer in the news. I understand that's what you want to do and it's meant to be an option, currently not working as far as I can tell.

You can't "force" guests to register.. You have to make them "want" to register.

Johnyblaze

yeah, you are right, lets see how the forum grows, thanks for the help
