Hi guys,
Im a TP/SMF user for about a year and a half and never had any major issues with updates and stuff, till now.

I have instaled 1.0.6 beta 2 version and want to upgrade to 1.0 beta 4... but when i try to uninstall previous version i get:

Browsing the support forum i found that people had similar problems and that solution would be manually changing the codes in those files...
Since i'm not much of a coder or programer, is there any other way to fix this problem of mine?
:uglystupid2:

Thanks in advance!

Ken.

Hi puppeter, welcome to TinyPortal. :)

Actually I've just now finished doing a manual edit on my site for all of the SMF files that TP writes to on an install.
It's really not hard to do, you just need to take care to get the edits correct by following the guide carefully.
This link should help by showing you the edits to the files that failed (just do a 'reverse' of the instruction):
How do I manually install TinyPortal

Always be sure to backup your forum before working on your files.

Thanks for your effort but, after i made some changes to files as you explained, i still get the same messages...

index.php and sources/profile.php = test failed

Ken.

Are you still at the uninstall of the old version?

yes...

old version will not uninstall until i resolve this issue...

I checked these two problematic files and found that there are some things that dont mach the files you gave me link to, so i changed them, uploaded them to the server, but still getting the same error message when i try to uninstall TP...

Thank you Ken very much for your help! Sorry to bother you...

Ken.

Not a bother.

Be sure to back up your forum before you edit.

What you must first do is uninstall the old TinyPortal making sure to note the files that show as 'Test Failed'.
Then, using the TP manual install guide, do a reverse edit on those failed files... restoring them to their condition before the original install of the 'old' TP.

Once the old TP is uninstalled and you've cleaned up the code in the 'Test Failed' files you should run the SMF Forum Maintenance routines including clearing your error logs.

Once all that is done and your forum is running correctly you can install the new TP package. If by some chance the package manager install is not working correctly you can use your newly found skills to do a manual install. :)

If you do happen to have something go wrong your saved backup will get you back in business.
