Article with list of titles from a certain board

Hello there.

I searched the forum for this question of mine but found nothing. So here it goes:
I would like to know if it's possible to have a block in frontpage with the list of the titles of the topics of a certain board. Something with the last X topics, or the last X topics in a certain period.

You've got a lot of different things listed, so I need you to specify what you want.

A block or an article? You mention both. Which do you want?

You say "the list of the titles" and then you say "the last x topics, or the last x topics in a certain period". Which do you want? All of the topics? Only the most recent x number? Only the ones from a certain time period? To quote from the Highlander, there can be only one.

What do you mean by "list of the titles"? Just a list with no links to anything? A list with links to the first post in the topics? A list with links to the last post in the topics?

What order do you want the list to be in? Alphabetical? By the date of the first post? By the date of the last post? Earliest first or most recent first?

Do you really want just a list or do you want the name of the person who started it (possibly with a link to that person's profile)? Do you want the number of responses or the date it was started or the number of views or the message icon or ... ? There are any number of other things that could be added.

In answer to your question, most anything is possible, once we know what it is that you want.

Ok, here it goes a more specific request 

What i would like to put in the frontpage is a block that shows a list with the title (only), of the topics in a certain board, in clickable links to the respective topics.
The list should be ordered by date with the most recent first, and consisting in X items (the last x topics in board). It should't show the date, but the title followed by the author of the topic.
