Install Problems

Ok, well I have spent a good part of the last two days trying to install TP onto my SMF 1.7 forum.    Half that time has been reading here and the smf forum 1/4 of the time beating my head against the wall and the other 1/4th fumling around in the dark.

After making it through a few sticky points that you don't mention in the instructions I got to the point where I am getting the timeout warning to log in and log out which seems to indicate that I will have to do a manual install which from the looks of it is beyond what I want to tackle.   (particularly after smashing whatever grey matter was in my skull against the wall so many times)

It seems from reading here that there is sometimes an issue installing tp.98 to SMF 1.7.    My quick question is would the same issue apply to installing 1.05 which I have not tried yet or could that be something worth trying?   Hopefully I got the version numbers right but if I am off a tad hopefully you know what I am asking.

Both packages o more exactly all 3 versions of TP installes just fine to SMF 1.1.7 ( tested through a few hundred installs by now )

You didnt say what errors, or what you have tried so far, so it's hard to give you a pinpoint to a successfull install.

So
1. What have you tried so far ?
2. What errors do you actually get ?
3. Didn the package manager fail ?
4. What failed with the package manager ?

Manuall install ?
3 steps is what you need to do
1. Download and extract the files from the package and upload the files to your forum folder on the server
2. Manually edit the TP code into the SMF files. If you have tp v098 you use this guide. http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/topic,139.html
If you have TP v1.0.5 or 1.0.6 you need this guide Modification Instructions
3. Point your browser to http://www.yoursiteurl.com/ manual_tp_install.php

Thanks G6.  I apprecaite the help.

I will try one other thing first before I go to a manual install.   I guess there is one word that needs to be changed in a file that should solve my problem.

The error I was getting was a warning that I needed to log in and log out again to complete the install which doesn't help.  There seem to be a ton of people with the same problem and I think changing one word in the code fixes it so I will try that this morning.

You mean the session verification error ?

That is an SMF issue theny have a sticky topic about in the support board for SMF 1.1

Thanks G6.   That was a big help and TP is now up and running.  Now I can start to figure out what I want to do with it and all those other nitty gritty things.   You were a big help and I appreciate it.
