If there are any people out there good with MySQL maybe they can answer this for me, If I delete part of my database concerned with a certain MOD (Not TP) after I have uninstalled the MOD form my forum, will that clear it out entirely or just screw things up? I ask because I uninstalled a mod and deleted the files left behind via FTP, and then reinstalled it and its still has the same settings.

:o :idiot2: :-\ :'( :buck2:

Mods always leave the database tables left, so if you just deleted the files, and then reinstalled it, the db tables will still be there, and with that, the same settings as they were before
Best answers would be from the mod author them selfs as they know their mod and how it's made

Thanks G6 - I will try over at SMF as well if no one knows here.

Your question is to vague to be able to answer. What mod? What parts of the database does the mod change? What are you thinking about deleting?

Many of the mods use the "smf_settings" table to store their settings. You certainly can't just delete that table. You would have to figure out what settings the mod uses and then delete those entries.

Since you don't seem to be well-versed in MySQL, I would suggest that you don't mess with it.

Actually JP, it was the MediaGallery MOD, and in the database it had it's own tables, on advice from a SMF user, I backed up my database, and deleted on the tables with the prefixs smf_mgallery. Guess what, it worked, all reference to it is now gone! YEA!!

I have SMF Media gallery on a test site and it works better and better, they do a lot of work to it and a lot of fast fixes where issues have been prooven.
I havent tested the conversion though, just install and updates and it's a great mod.
SMF Gallery is also a great mod, but doesent support media files at all, so for that part, it's the best mod out there for SMF IMHO

And great that you got the issues fixed regarding the database

I am sure they have done some great work, it is just for me there were too many drawbacks and problems. Just my opinion.  ;)
