Which to do first? SMF 1.16 or V098?

Hello,

Thought I would start a new thread based on one of my sites that is lagging behind on versions.

Site is running the "older" version TP 098 and SMF 1.1.5, need to upgraded to 1.16 then to 1.1.7

Based on my past experience with upgrading I killed my TP and had to reinstall.

What do I do first now on this site?
Upgraded the TP to the newer version of 098 then do the SMF upgrades or
upgrade SMF then reinstall TP?

Thanks

RR

Can you tell me what will happen with TP if I upgrade to 1.16 then to 1.17? If I lose it, do I reinstall it and it will just appear again or will I have to rebuild all the blocks and permissions again?

Or do I uninstall the TP mod do the SMF upgrades, then use the Newer TP 098 ?

EDIT:  Whoops, I my site says I am running TP 0.983, is that the current version that works with 1.1.6 or 1.1.7?   I am almost certain i am using the version prior that had bugs with 1.1.6

Just apply the patch in your package manager

Sorry but which patch the SMF or TP? Thanks and sorry for the questions.

Ken.

SMF first.
Go to your Admin panel and under the "Update Available!" notice you will see a link for "update your forum".
That should update your SMF without disrupting or disturbing anything else.

Thanks Ken, just making sure.  I guess my aprehension is that i am using the older version of TP 098 so what happens to that if I do the upgrade on SMF?

EDIT:  that was easy, took about 1 min for both, went from 1.15 to 1.16 then right to 1.1.7

Just hope it stays that way!!  Thanks again, now I need a nap!
