TP 1.0.6 Beta 2 - Messed up forum dimensions

This is the second problem I've had w/this version of TP doing something like this -  I Just upgraded from v.0.9.8.3 to 1.0.6 Beta 2.  As soon as I installed TP, my forum's dimensions were messed up - it seems my side panels were too large for the 964px forum width I have set via style.css.   I turned off an upper block I had - which seemed to fix the problem (my right panel was no longer poking outside the width of the forum). 

The problems remains however, that:

(1) I didn't have this problem before upgrading TP, and
(2) I can only get the "padding between panels" to change as to the right panel and the middle section.  The left panel remains at a fixed 4px (approximately) no matter what I change the padding value to.

Theme problems. You didn't have these problems in TP 0.9.8 because TP is hard coded into the index.template.php file. TP 1.x uses the SMF layer system to put things into place. If you look at the default theme and MANY other themes you'll see that you don't have this problem. Themes that were designed for TP 0.9.8 will sometimes require tweaking to work in the newer TP. But generally they should look ok. If indeed the block you disabled did fix something, then you probably had something in the block causing a problem in the code.

Interesting.    The theme I'm currently using on this site is just the default theme w/some style.css tweaks though. 

Disabling that center block kept the right panel from being pushed outside the forum "lines", but that still doesn't explain the "padding between panels" problem.   Any ideas there?

Wouldn't have a clue as I didn't design the theme. If you have any TP template files in there, take em out and see if that helps.

No TP files - like I said, the themes is a default-based theme.  The only thing in the package is style.css, images, and theme_info.xml.

Can't say what the problem is without looking at your theme. If it works in the default theme then you can tell if its a problem with your theme.

Same thing w/the default theme - I went ahead and set the theme to Default-Core if you want to check it out.

In the end I think I'm just going to do a large install and overwrite everything - I don't use the "full install" package for that, do I?

No, the full install over writes database Settings.php.
