Hi Guys, thanks for reading.

To me this seems like it would be easy with the great infrastructure TP provides, but for the life of me I can't see how to do it.

I don't know if this is more a function of the theme or of TP, maybe that's where my problem is actually.

What I am trying to do is use the pages/custom.template.php file as an example to make a custom page that I can link to using the current theme, and also include the side panels for navigation.

Does anyone know how I should go about this?

Ken.

Hi Methos000, welcome to TinyPortal.

Please read the Posting Guidelines
If you follow the posting guidelines it will make it lots easier for us to help you. :)

EDIT: Have you looked at the TP Articles system to see if that will do what you need?

Yeah I've used articles and we use those, what we're looking for is a little more complicated, more of a content management system down the road, but for now, i'd just like ALL of the site pages to be able to access the left navigation. (example: as in the forums, which has all the side blocks.)

For instance the About page - I'd like that to have the navigation bars on it as well, but it doesn't.  Does that make sense?

Ken.

Your 'About' page appears to be part of your custom theme?
If that's the case you should probably ask on the TinyPortal Media site because that's one by StormLrd.

Did you check under 'Current Theme' in your admin panel to see if it has display options that give you the desired results for that page?

Yeah the about page is a custom one, but only because I didn't want to mess with the extensive code in the default About page, I figured it would have been easier to include it from scratch with this template system.  I guess I was wrong there.

I sure wish the admin panel had those options. :)

Ken.

Sorry that you can't get that one page to work out.
The TP Article as an about page may be your best bet because it will allow you to use HTML, PHP or BBC code to build the page and then give you lots of display options including blocks and panels.

I appreciate you taking the time to enlighten me, it has honestly helped.  I didn't think of using the article system that way, and I didn't realize the article system could integrate php code.  Thats a big help!
