There must be a limit to the number of Articles in TinyPortal?

Well having not resolved my last problem (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=25279) I have literally been playing for longer then I care to say to get Tinyportal to work. And it simply hasn't.

I was convinced my port of the database was great, and sure enough when I transferred just small numbers of articles over to TinyPortal it worked perfectly. However when I port all 3800 articles over, they show well enough on the front-end but in the admin cp I get a 500 ISE on the article view page.

I realise that the article view page lists all the articles in one long line. Maybe 3800 of these is what is causing the 500 Internal Server Error?

Which leads me to conclude, that TinyPortal can't handle large numbers of articles. If this is the case, it would seriously suck as it means I will need to switch to a proper CMS like Joomla, but I really want to use TP as I think having just TP and SMF will be lighter and quicker on the server.

Do you think my conclusion is correct? if so does anyone see any potential solutions? Thanks!

To answer this so you know we are at it..

I am going t have a play with the articles page myself, and make it split so it pulls say, 20 articles, then offers numbered pages up.

If this works then I will submit the bug and solution :-)

Ah, then thats the cause of the other topic. Yes, it does lists all titles at once, this will be adressed in TP 1.0 beta 2.

I believe limiting your results to 20 or 30 per page would ease the load on the server, plus, not unnecessarily extend the length of time and the resources on the server itself  to display the results for such a long listing of articles.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am now diving through the code trying to find the bit that lists the articles so I can limit it to pages just to give me a temp solution so I can continue site development until 1.0 beta 2 is out.
