Hi, I've been running SMF successfully for about a year with my current setup. I have configured it to work with my business and have added 5 more columns to the smf_members table to store data on the user. Oh I also am using TP 0.9.8

I've been avoiding using some maintenance options in SMF though fearing it could interact with the tables and kill my extra columns of data. So really I'm just looking for confirmation that it's ok to use these functions:

Is it ok to use:
Optimize all tables to improve performance.
Find and repair any errors.
Recount all forum totals and statistics.
Empty out unimportant logs.

Saving the DB
Also, when i save my DB how should i do it? I usually check the "Save the table structure." option.

My guess is it's ok to use these functions, excuse my paranoia.

Thanks for any help.

Ken.

The only way that you can remove or kill something in your DB is if you erase the tables manually.

Upu can use the tools in your SMF admin and it will just give the command to the DB to do the maintenace, nothing will be lost or removed.
