Articles yes indeed, but your question was not about articles at all

QuoteI have a need to create a topic, or a thread that allows multiple people to edit it often to keep it updated.  Does anyone have any idea how this can be done?

Thanks in advance.

SMF 1.1.5
TP 1.0.5 Beta

Topics = the forum
Thread = posts inside the forum

How difficult is it to create a new member group with correct permissions for those that need to edit whatever they need to edit?

A lot less difficult than arguing semantics over 2 pages of a topic.

Ok, how can I make it so that a member (or specific members), or even a membergroup can edit a specific article?

These are the only permissions for TP Articles:
Submissions are always approved
Help    Can submit HTML articles
Help    Can submit BBC articles
Help    Can edit own articles

Xarcell

You can't.

The closest thing I can think of would be to give that membergroup the permission to "manage articles" under TP. Of course, that would give them access to manage/edit all articles.

I think a good idea would be to add a permission to article categories to allow certain membergroups to moderate. I'll mention this to Bloc...

Zetan

You can do that for blocks and topics, allow a member group to edit a particular block.
I assumed articles had the same feature.

Please do.  I think this could be a needed feature.

I've looked around, and can't find anything...

Ya I double checked and even tried a work around. - Nope...

Blocks have these options, but not articles.

I already mentioned it to Bloc. Now we'll have to wait and see...

Zetan

The only option I found was to Lock articles for editing.. Thus leaving the article you want members to edit, Un-locked.

Not tried it.. And it doesn't really do the same thing as a member group based permissions.
