Contact your host as said numerous times in your other thread, it's not a tp issue, there for we cannot support more then we have done allready.

apparently, i have been in contact with my host on this issue. He spent over an hour going over the  server and helping me with the database copy i made and had up and had same issue as before, yet i managed to install on fresh new database on same domain, with tp, same way as i did with the copied database.

TP does not create a subdomain

no. tp doesnt create subdomains. gesh. smf doesnt either. a owner of the site must decide where to install a forum not a mod add on, such as tp.

TP does not set the persmissions

no tp does not set permissions. that is set by the owner, that follows the chmod guide from smf.

TP does not break the files you upload

who said that tp breaks files you upload? normally to have broken files, that is a internet issue, already covered when i first attempted the tpv1 install, and stated as such.

G6, why are you being so stubborn, just like me? i want to resolve this, you want to keep locking topics on me. I asked you to let bloc handle this, but you cant. you want to point out it is me and my server. you want to keep saying i am a hassle to respond to.

i want to learn. what?? should i pay someone to prove to me that tpv1 can be installed on my own subdomain? would i be better treated? but would i learn if i did that?

I am not trying to be ugly about this, i just wanted to get my subdomain going with the tp v1.

I am not the only "hostee" on this hosting company, and there are others on the hosting company that do have tp on their sites. this has been brought up before..

and what gets me is that the server can create it for a fresh install (the temp folder with the correct permissions) but yet on a copy of my database, it can not.

see i am trying to find solutions. i have posted correct, but yet i keep getting topic locked  or im not listening  or that i need to change hosts. i know certain people wish i would not post, but when you or anyone else here wants to know something, what do you do? post

so i will try the install of my copied db, with what dragoon suggested for the install of the old tp, with the mod of no temp removal and see if that will work.. frankly i want this to go, as i do not feel like moving posts and members to yet another part of my site for the umptenth time. they would have a bigger cow than i am right now. if this doesnt work then it must be an error in the database itself, and guess i will comb thru it afterwards.

As far as my host, i hope he doesnt get ticked over this issue, but im not giving up, and im not leaving my host. for one small thing, he has stuck thru with me on my web sites, crazy ideas, and what i want, and has made things happen so far, so i wont give up on him.. im grateful he has put up with my ideas and wants. he cant help if he does not know what to look for..

tell ya what, move this to paid support if i cant do it.. i got 10 bucks that says it is the database issue. will post more when i get it done again for the 5th time.

Smoky, you have actually confirmed that its a server issue yourself.

It should be obvious to you by now that you're only pursuing a closed issue so you should stop posting the same comments over and over again because it only serves to keep stirring this mess.

I think it might be something other then a host issue, all the information posted tells me that there is an incompatibility with something in the existing database which TP 1.0 is having an issue with but TP 0.9.8 works fine with.

The points to take note with:

*brand new database works fine (this proves the host is not the problem)
*copy of old database works fine with TP 0.9.8 but not with 1.0.5 (This proves values in the TP 0.9.8 compatible database is not compatible with TP 1.0)

So this is definitely an issue with the compatibility of using an existing database that's running TP 0.9.8 with the new TP 1.0.5.

And this is definitely not something that should be locked, I think Bloc would be interested in seeing this problem and checking it out.

I am open to being totally wrong but from what I am reading on all the previous posts is throwing a big red flag telling me this is the most likely answer

if not Hairy, there are more options with what i can do, and i know this.. this is why i had made a copy of the db before anything else..  plus, i dont want to screw up my site.. 

also, if anyone runs into the same issue, hopefully there will be a fix, instead of someone getting upset n walking away from tp, never to return.. i got faith that it can be.. 

major edit:

something to think about guys, this is a split database.. if you remember i had 2 forums installed on 1 db, but the "main" forum i couldnt bring over..and ended up loosing it.. i wonder if that has anything to do with this?? it just hit me on it.. i never actually "split" them, but what happened was i uploaded this one first, then tried to upload the other and it wouldnt go.. remember the separate log ins?? so if anyone wants to think bout it this way now, im still trying to provide all info i can on this.. i can provide a copy of the database for bloc to look into this..

Smoky, if you have a copy of the db, please send me a PM about it. I think maybe Hairy is on to something. I wasn't aware that you were trying to install on a older dual-site(possibly) db with tp0.9 tables on it. It might not be TP..the install routine should update any 0.9 table - but it might be a conflict with prefixes on the tables. If so, TP 1.0 should take notice of that and not grind to a halt because of it(if thats what happened).
