Hello, I installed Italian language pack for TP, I changed the names from utf8 to normal because I'm not using that format.

After sucessful upload and choosing for the Prefered Language: Italian, I get to see a text line on top of the SMF page:

You can't just change the names from a UTF8 file to use them as a regular language file. They are encoded thats why you're seeing the odd characters. You'll need to download the correct files.

There are no correct files, as far as I see, there are only UTF8 characters, and I have done this before several times, and no body has ever had a single problem between UTF8 and normal.

Try resaving the files as instead of just renaming them. I'm pretty sure thats why you are seeing the issue though. Assuming your using TP 0.9.7 as well? I don't see the italian translation for TP 0.9.8 in the downloads.

I'm using Tp 0.9.8. and there is a TP_098_italian-utf8_UNTRANSLATED package. that's the one I'm using, I don't undersand what you mean by resaving.

That package is untranslated, meaning that it hasn't even been translated for Italian. By resaving, I mean open the file and save it the files again. This will hopefull get rid of the UTF8 encoding. I don't know jack crap about language stuff, so good luck from here.

hummm .. same problem.
So, i have re-encoded the file in utf8 with no success.
Then, i have search into files and i have found this characters in .js files of fck editor....
i don't know :/

If change mozilla 'character encoding' to right 'utf-8', this character disappear.
But i think that the reason is that this character are non-utf8.

Non-UTF8 means .. UNICODE also -.-
