problem while installing

I'm trying to install TP but everytime i receive the following message:

Install / Upgrade TinyPortal v0.9.8 beta

    * Upshrink table created
    * Settings table created
    * Settings table updated
          o Added 98 new setting(s)
    * Blocks table created.
          o some sample values were added to the blocks table
    * Variables table created.
          o some sample values were added to the variables table
    * Articles table created.
          o some sample values were added to the articles table
    * DL manager table created
    * Shoutbox table created
    * UTF-8 setting is found.
            table could not be updated

what can i do to solve that? I'm a noob and would appreciate any help

You have to change your language settings for SMF before you instal TP, run the upgrade again, then manually add the utf8 language strings for your language manually, then change back your language settings to utf8

I've changed the language to English and the same error happens.. or isn't this you're talking about?

can a manual installation pass by this error?

The DB will probably still shoot you this error as the install process is the same when it comes to the DB install process.

Try this steps and see if it help you with your issue.
